Patient Selection Criteria for Lowder OR

1.  All patients presenting as outpatient, regardless of service, must be prescreened by the Anesthesia Pre-Admit Screening Service prior to the day of their procedure.  Failure to do so, prior to the day of the procedure, will significantly delay or prevent your patient from being done in the Lowder Operating Rooms.

2.   In general, patient should be older than 3 months of age though patients less than 3 months will be considered on a case by case basis.

3.  Only patients less than American Society of Anesthesiologist Class III may be scheduled for the Lowder Operating Rooms.  Patients who are Class III or higher require an Anesthesiology consult and will be decided on a case by case basis.

4.  Children with airway abnomalities and with complex medical or cardio-respiratory disease should generally be considered inappropriate for the Lowder Operating Rooms without a prior Anesthesiology consult and approval.  Technology dependent children (i.e. ventilator dependent children, tracheostomy dependent children, etc.) may be exempted from this status if medically stable in all other aspects.  This determination should be made in consulation with the Anesthesiologist and would be decided on an individual basis.
